Dubai: Young Pradeep Barboza's 'Sangon Mugdana' Enthralls Konkani Buffs

Dubai, Jan 24: Pradeep Barboza, one of Konkani’s youngest playwright, who has already written, directed, and acted several Konkani plays, yet again rose to the occasion and mesmerized a full audience at the Emirates English Speaking School here on Jan 23, 2009.
'Sangon Mugdana’, his Konkani Play was a huge hit as a packed audience was glued to their seats to witness the talents of every member of the troupe.
The play focused on social issues and had a blend of comedy and emotions in its plot. The direction and the flow was brilliant.
Udentichim Neketram, an association of 13 parishes from Moodbidri varado organized this play on the occasion of its fourth anniversary
The troupe consisted of Deepak Dsilva, Paul D'Souza, Vinay Pinto, Joshwe D'Souza, Richard Saldhana, Sunil Pinto, Melwyn Cardoza, Dany Dcunha, Anil Fernandes, Prakash Cardoza, Gretta Fernandes, Joyce D'Souza, Reshma D'Souza, Baby Lisha D'Souza, and Selin Barboza. Music was directed by Cyril Baptist, Canon, and Calvin.
The day long event started at 11.30 am with a prayer Dance. Joshwe D'Souza and Reshma D'Souza jointly compered the show.
Joseph Mathias (Merit Freight Systems LLC) and Fr. Freddy D'souza - the spiritual Director of St. Mary's Church Konkani Community were chief guests for this event.
Melwyn Cardoza welcomed the gathering which was followed by the lighting of lamp by the guests and representatives of all the 13 parishes.
Valerian Pereira read the annual report. The chief guest Joseph Mathias urged the gathering to show their love to their respective parishes and appreciated the association for its work in helping poor families. Fr. Freddy conveyed his good wishes and thanked everyone for their participation.
The outgoing president of Udentichem Neketram Melwyn Cardoza handed over the reigns to the new president Lawrence D'Souza.
‘GAAVM’, a book of Konkani poems of Johnson Dias, Shirthady, was released by a visiting Capuchin priest Rev. Fr. Santosh Menezes.
Felicitation to the all Sponsors, Co Sponsors, benefactors and well wishers was conducted by Rajesh D'Souza.
Children and members performed various dance recitals and enacted skits during the event.
