Mangaluru, Sep 29: MLC S L Bhojegowda slammed the government for not discussing the rain related havoc, crop losses and compensation issues during the assembly session.
Addressing media on Thursday September 29, he said, “Due to heavy rains, we witnessed agriculture and crop losses. People are in trouble due to calamites occurred in the monsoon. The issues were not discussed in the right manner during the 10-day assembly session.
“Officials have not taken steps to identify the crop losses. The monsoon has created havoc in different sectors where roads and bridges were damaged, and landslides also took place. Every year, these issues repeat. Officials do not bring them to the notice of the government and fail to find permanent solutions for the same.
“The government should provide compensation to those who faced agriculture and crop loss.
“During landslides in Coorg, the then chief minister H D Kumaraswamy took steps to construct 1200 houses costing Rs 12 lac each. They were later inaugurated by B S Yediyurappa. This was a permanent solution adapted by Kumaraswamy,” he said.
He further said, “Pancharathna programme will start from November 1. We are ensuring to reach out to the people about Pancharathna programme.
“Education and health is not reaching to the needy.
“Many schools and colleges are damaged in the rain. The government should take measures to restore them.
“There is a scarcity of 45% of teachers and lecturers. As much as 80% are guest lecturers and 20% are permanent lecturers. When NEP is introduced, we will be in a situation where there are no lecturers or teachers. How can we give quality of education?
“I have raised the issue of delay in salary for guest teachers. Some have not received salary for 5 months. I have bought this to the notice of the government. I took this matter very seriously. If the government fails to release funds before the festival ends to giving salary to the guest teachers, I am ready to stage protest in Bengaluru on behalf of the teachers,” he said.
Regard ban on PFI, “If any social element disturbs peace and harmony in the society and there is any evidence against them, the government is free to take action against such organisations.”
