Udupi: Govt orders to release 25,000 kl additional diesel for fishing boats

Udupi, Feb 23: The state government ordered to release 25000 kl of subsidised diesel for mechanised boats for the fiscal 2022-23.

Earlier, the government had ordered to distribute the subsidised diesel at delivery point. It fixed 1.50 lac kl of diesel annually, with effect from April 2022. However, this quota is getting over in the month of December itself. That is why appeal was made to increase the quota to two lac kl. In addition, 17500 kl diesel is required every month. Accordingly, request was also made to release 35000 KL of additional diesel to cover the months of February and March 2023.

This important demand of fishermen was fulfilled by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai. Union minister Shobha Karandlaje and minister S Angara also coordinated with the CM. MLA Raghupati Bhat offered gratitude to all the three.
