Bantwal: Pudu gram panchayat elections held peacefully

Bantwal, Feb 25: Pudu gram panchayat elections were held on Saturday, As many as 73.7% voters cast their votes. The percentage was 73% for the by-election at Natlamudnoor gram panchayat and 80% for the by-election for Anantadi gram panchayat.

Though voting began on time, some voters had to wait for hours at some booths of Pudu gram panchayat limits. The voters alleged it was because the election department did not allot the booths according to the population.

Strict police security was provided at every booth. As many as 99 candidates are in fray for 34 seats of ten wards of Pudu gram panchayat.

BJP supported Geeta Chandrashekar and Congress supported Shashikala Harinaksha Poojary are in the fray for women’s category A seat of Anantadi gram panchayat. BJP supported Sujatha Jagadish Poojary Mitrakodi and Congress supported Harinakshi Harish Poojary are in the fray for backward class A category woman position of Netla Mudnoor gram panchayat.
