Udupi: Bank customer loses Rs 1.94 lac on pretext of KYC update

Udupi, Mar 1: A bank customer lost Rs 1.94 lac on the pretext of KYC update here. Ronald J Suchita, son of Vijay Suchita, residing at Kutpadi gram, Janata Colony, customer of Canara Bank, Udyavar branch was the person who was conned.

A stranger called up Ronald Suchita on February 28 claiming that he is the bank officer, asked Ronald to update his KYC and said that his bank account will be blocked otherwise. The stranger obtained the bank account details, ATM details and OTP number from Ronald and transferred Rs 94,000, Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 1,94,000 online from the account of the victim.

A police complaint in this connection is registered at CEN police station.
