Bengaluru, Apr 11: With speculation ripe in political circles that JD(S) leader H D Revanna’s wife Bhavani Revanna contemplating to contest as an independent if she was not allowed to contest as JD(S) candidate from Hassan constituency, KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar refused to answer questions on whether the party will support Bhavani.

“I don’t want to comment on the internal family matters of the (Deve Gowda family). Let them carry on with their political work and we will keep ourselves busy with our work,” he said making it clear that he does not want to interfere in the internal matters of JD(S).

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Tuesday, the KPCC Chief said it was not correct or proper to blame JD(S) after working with them.

Shivakuamar said there is no proposal to admit former BJP Deputy Chief Minister and MLC Lakshman Savadi. “He is a very senior leader. He has never discussed his desire to join Congress. However, several leaders (from BJP) from Shivamogga and Haveri districts had expressed their desire to join Congress. If they do join, they should be offered positions befitting their stature. But there are no positions to accommodate them. So, there is no point in asking them to join the party,” he declared.

When asked about the third list of Congress, the KPCC Chief shot back: “We have already released names of 167 candidates. But the BJP, which is in power, has not released the name of even a single candidate. You are not asking them.”

Shivakumar said the party will release the names of candidates for the remaining constituencies soon.

Asked about BJP leader K S Eshwarappa’s decision to retire from politics, he said: "It is his decision. I wish him well. He had contested against me.’’
