Udupi: Man loses more than Rs 25 lacs in Bitcoin trading

Udupi, Apr 11: In yet another online fraud, Atreya Acharya, a resident of Udupi has lost Rs 25,52,300 in Bitcoin trading.

A person named Tushar Kapoor who befriended Atreya Acharya on social media, lured the latter into investing in Bitcoin assuring him huge profit . Tushar Kapoor had Atreya Acharya open valets in Binance and Noones.com and asked him to remit money in them.

Atreya Acharya who trusted him remitted online a total of Rs 25,52,300 on various days from March 19 to April 9 to the bank accounts mentioned by Tushar Kapoor. Tushar Kapoor subsequently transferred the bitcoins from the account of Atreya Acharya on April 9. Tushar Kapoor has neither returned the bitcoins nor refunded the amount remitted by Atreya Acharya.

A case under crime registration No. 63/2023 section 66 (c ) and 66 (d ) IT Act is registered at Udupi CEN police station in this connection.
