Udupi, April 12: “Even though both the candidates are from the same community, the intelligent voters of Udupi will choose their representative wisely” said Prasadraj Kanchan, Congress candidate for the Udupi assembly constituency.

Addressing the media persons here, Prasadraj Kanchan said, “I am ready for the campaign and we shall start from tomorrow. During our campaign we  noticed that people are looking for a change. They have expressed that they are tired of the BJP government and are going to vote for a change."

He also stated that the Congress party candidates will meet the expectations of the voters.

"The voters of Udupi district are well educated and they know which candidate is eligible for the post of MLA. I have all the qualities of a good politician. I am not a new face in Udupi and I come from a political family. I was also the president of the rural congress committee at the age of 26. My mother had contested the assembly elections from Brahmavara constituency, and I have even worked during the grama panchayat elections. I have all the qualities of a politician. We have also received some news about people wanting Congress to come back to rule. I say that Congress is like a family. The Congress party is head of the family and we are its children. I just wish for an educated leader for Udupi so that bad influences from the minds of the youths are removed," Kanchan said.

Speaking about the rebellion, Prasadraj Kanchan said, “It's common to have differences." He said people who have been hurt and are feeling sad will come back to the party after they calm down. 

"The party workers who were silent during the last elections, have become active this time and are working for the party. Party workers are our backbone and they have been working hard for the party. We will chalk out a strategic plan for the campaign,” he said.     

Ramesh Kanchan, block Congress president said, “Congress party has already appointed the in-charge at the ward and panchayat levels. In upcoming days, we shall organise meetings in each ward on the basis of the people in charge. The providing of guarantee cards to people’s houses has already begun and we have got good response from the public. We are happy to say that the Congress party has given a ticket to an eligible and educated candidate in Udupi,” he said.

Dinakar Heroor, Brahmavar block Congress president Prakhyat Shetty, vice-president Kushal Shetty, Bhaskar Rao Kediyoor and others were present.
