Karkala, Apr 13: A woman, who was suffering from mental illness, died as she consumed excessive pills given for her sickness by the doctor.
The deceased is identified as Shobha (40), a resident of Kerekodi Darkasu of Bola village.
Shobha was suffering from mental illness and down syndrome for several years and was getting treated for the same from the medical officer of Karkala government hospital.

On April 10, after her dinner, she took all the tablets from the pouch and fell ill. When she was taken for treatment to the doctor the following day, she was declared dead.
A case in this connection is registered in Karkala rural police station.
