Udupi: Accused sentenced to three years imprisonment in POCSO case

Udupi, Apr 15: An accused, who sexually harassed a minor girl, was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the FTSC POCSO court of the city.

Govinda Naika is the accused who is convicted by the court. On March 2, 2021, the 13-year-old girl victim, had gone to the shop owned by Govinda Naika to buy biscuits. Naika enticed the girl on the pretext of giving her juice and sexually harassed her inside the shop. A case in this connection was registered in Amasebail police station. The then DySP of Kundapur had conducted an inquiry and submitted a chargesheet to court.

Justice Srinivasa Suvarna pronounced accused Govinda Naika as guilty and sentenced him to three years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 2000.

Special public prosecutor of Udupi POCSO court Y T Raghavendra argued for the prosecution.
