Mangaluru, Apr 25: The transmission of a link to a WhatsApp account with the message ‘Part time job’ and the transfer of funds through the same have been the subject of two instances of fraud reported at the Mangaluru CEN police station.

In the first case, in April, a link with the message ‘online earning task’ was sent to the complainant’s WhatsApp account by an unidentified sender using the number 6262948264. He was instructed to use the URL to do the chores. Then, a total of Rs 3, 01,505 was gradually withdrawn out of the complainant’s account.

In the second case, the complainant's WhatsApp account received a message from an unidentified sender with the subject ‘Part time Job online amazon business’ from the number 8969209811. Then it was instructed to sign up for the telegram. Later, he claimed that by performing the chores in it, he might make money. The complainant paid Rs 200. An unknown person added a commission of Rs 395 to it. In order to increase his profit, the complainant afterwards paid a total of Rs 3.30 lac in instalments. But he did not receive any compensation.
