With the online shopping trend picking up fast, chances of people falling prey to online frauds have increased rapidly. One can notice several advertisements related to fashion, electronic items and many other products on social media platforms. These websites cheat buyers by alluring them with bigger discounts on their products.
These shopping websites induce people by offering big discounts. People get tempted by getting the option of buying items at lower prices. They go shopping on that website, and make the purchase. However, the delivered product is never the one they originally ordered.
Later, when people try to go back to the website to check the status of the delivery, the website does not open, making them realise that they have been cheated.
Recently, a man from Mangaluru, tempted to an advertisement on Facebook page ‘Villa Esmeralda’, placed an order where two cargo pants where for sale at Rs 899. He placed an order on the page which redirected to shopwell.myshopline.com on October 4.
The man received his order on October 10. To his utter dismay, he had received two jeans – one which was short and another, the regular length. The products were way different than what he had ordered. In addition, the clothes he received, were emanating bad odour. The customer tried to complain or return the products, but there was no such option on the website. He ended up losing Rs 900.
