Chikmagalur, Sep 22: ‘Konkani Rakan Sanchalan’, an organization striving for sustenance of Konkani and its distinct culture in Malnad region of Karnataka, organized the feast of Nativity of Mary at Bankal parish in Mudigere, near here, on Saturday September 18.  The celebrations were organized by Chikmagalur and Hassan units of Konkani Rakan Sanchalan.
 
Fr Stany, parish priest of Mudigere, celebrated the festal Holy Mass along with Bankal parish priest Fr Prashant and blessed the new paddy sheaves.

Konkani Rakan Sanchalan Chikmagalur and Hassan units’ president Cyril Rebello presided over the stage programme.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Rebello briefed about the proposed launching of Konkani Rakan Sanchalan of Bankal unit shortly.  He also announced plans to organize a Konkani musical concert on December 25 in aid of poor students’ education fund besides a Konkani cultural extravaganza that was proposed to be held in April 2012.
 
Konkani Rakan Sanchalan Chikmagalur and Hassan unit’s vice-president Eric D’Silva, secretary Edwin Pinto, and treasurer Joachim were present on the dais.
 
Traditional Mangalorean vegetarian food including new grains mixed in sweet dish were shared among the gathering. Cyril Rebello welcomed the gathering and Joachim proposed the vote of thanks.
