Moodbidri, Sep 27: Well-known Kannada scholar, researcher, and academician, M M Kalburgi, will preside over this year’s edition of ‘Alvas Nudisiri’. Kalburgi’s selection was unanimous. The programme this time will be organized from November 11 to 13 here under the aegis of Alvas Education Foundation, said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Group of Educational Institutions and the brian behind the concept of ‘Nudisiri’.

M M Kalburgi has received a number of awards and recognitions including ‘Nadoja’ award being conferred by Hampi Kannada University, and Central Sahitya Akademi award.

The concept of the programme this year will be ‘Kannada Manassu – Sangharsha and Samarasya (Kannada Mind – conflicts and harmony). Alva said that his group of institutions has been organizing this annual event without any government assistance since the last seven years, and that discipline, time consciousness, orderly arrangements, etc have become the hallmarks of this event. “We plan to convene preliminary meetings towards organizing this event this year as before, and continue to earn the ‘model’ tag as in the past,” he explained.

He asked ardent supporters of Kannada to contact the ‘Nudisiri’ office, in case they are interested to organize preliminary meetings at their places, adding that cultural richness will be again on display in this year’s ‘Alvas Nudisiri’. Dr Alva also unveiled plans to organize the decennial ‘Nudisiri’ as a global level event, saying that plans and ideas are in progress towards this end.
