Mangalore: Thieves Enter Jewellery Shop – Silver worth Rs 8 lac Lost

Mangalore, Sep 27: Unknown thieves forced their entry into a jewellery shop located on Raghavendra Mutt Road near Car Street here on the night of Sunday September 25. A complaint relating to the theft was registered at Bunder police station here on Monday September 26.

The thieves gained entry into ‘Renuka Jewellers’ through the back door. They took away silver ornaments and valuables kept in the showcase of the shop, weighing about 15 kg. The value of these items has been put at eight lac rupees, as per the complaint filed by jewellery shop owner, Dattu Nikam.

It is learnt that a workshop where ornaments are carved, is located on the rear side of the shop, and that the thieves entered the shop by snapping the bolt of the wooden door of the workshop. As gold and gold ornaments were securely kept inside the locker, the thieves could not lay their hands on them, it is gathered.
