Mangalore, Oct 23: The PTA members and staff of St Theresa's School in Bendore have urged for quick police action after the school was targetted by miscreants on the early hours of Sunday October 23.

Addressing a press meet here the same evening at 4.30 pm, former vice-president of the PTA Linette Fernandes said, "We are deeply pained by the incident. For sure, there is a hand of some group in this." She added that though complaints had been made to the police regarding the attacks on the school on earlier occasions, no action was taken.

"But this time they have gone too far, and their motto was desecrating the St Theresa statue. We strongly condemn the act and demand immediate police action," she said.

She further said that the Benthany Education Society, which runs the school, has more than 100 institutions across India, and has never discriminated in terms of caste or creed.

St Theresa's School in Bendore, which was set up in 1997 and offers ICSE education, has around 1,300 students and 60 staff, and they are from all communities, be it Hindu, Muslim or Christian, she said.

On the miscreants, she said that it was a well-planned act of vandalism, as the culprits came in bikes without number plates so as to avoid being identified. Moreover, they threw bricks and not ordinary stones at the statue and the window panes, she added.

She reiterated that the school enjoys good rapport with parents, other institutions and the public in general, and there is no reason for anyone to target it. "The incident has shocked us all," Linette added.

When asked if the school has planned to stage any protest, she said that at present there was no such plan, but if the police fails to take action, a protest would be launched.

Gretta Rebello, corporator, Sr Rose Serine, secretary, Bethany Education Society and chairperson of PTA, Rose Saldanha, PTA vice-president, and Gulshan, PTA executive member were present.

either you have changed your name to write in this forum or must have been bribed to write like this which is false and ill founded. could you please enlighten me about the church attacks in Andhra where Pak or any muslim community is invloved... just give me the source of this information which i havent heard so far. RSS and its parivar is spreading ill founded ideologies and spreading false news like conversion, love jehad, masjids were built by demolishing mandirs etc etc... Let the readers of this forum have the source code for your version of news and church attacks... BD leader openly accepted his role in church attacks and later criticised BJP/RSS for their double standards...and for disassociating him in the politics.... You are not the one with the above name but the name has been forged to mislead the readers... I am sure about it..

These are all unwanted incidents why don't all Mangaloreans join together & find a solution. So that people of all community can live peacefully, happily as we lived just few years back.

Now coming to the point of attacking the Religion or attacking the Holy Shrines is a bigest crime. When the Indian Government know these incidents there should be a immediate action taken on such issues. For each Indian respect her or his religion so don't wait untill the God to act in your lives. If you fear God act now and stop these attacks on religions.

assalamwallukum shahnawaz kukkikatte, It's not right to blame on others on such small issues. What Mr.Harsh Malhotra is said absolutely right. May be some miscreants from our own community indulge in such acts as happened several times in the past. If we are true and believe in ALLAH first of all we should educate our people before blaming on others.

Do you aware in the year 2000 12 bomb blasts happened in different churches in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
First they are blamed on sangh parivar. Who is the culprit behind, from our own community who supported radical groups from our neighbouring countries.

Daiji World is a public forum wherein you cannot blame on others without knowing who is the actual culprit. You are educated person but you yourself looks like not brought up in a right way by your good parents. I won't blame on your parents.

We are living in between majority people wherein we should give first respect to them to anybody else. As I know most of hindus are tolerant people as compare to others. That's why so many religion flourised so called in my India. Can you find any other religion in UAE/Saudi Arabia/Doha-Qatar??. In Tumkur we ourselves voted these time to BJP to win as congress who has duped us from independance.

They are only after destroying Christians. Yes it is high time that we Christians, Muslems and minorities should vote Congress as it is the only remedy for India to live in Peace. The name of BJP should be removed in India. Congress in Power and JDS as opposition will bring a stable government. Let the people of my country understand this. This is a despicable act by whosoever has done it and should be condemned by all! Our Mangluru day in and out along with the state is getting famous for all the wrong reasons. I cannot think of any positive point in paying astronomical prices for property/flats in and around this so called fastest developing city!!!!

I request you to stop venom or get out of mangalore before your are forcibly evicted. Or live in peace with other communities. Dont sow the seed of hate.. people like you are disgrace to whole of humanity and burden to this mother earth...I am sure your parents have sent u to christian run educational institutions to acquire knowledge and you are paying them back by beingn ungrateful.. Its not ur fault but fault of ur parents who failed to inject values and morale in you. Very sad.

Last time who attacked Churches in and around Mangalore were not punished which may motivated attack on minority institution and place of worship. But if they thought they would divide the society on this cowardly act, they were wrong and disappointed. We are and remains to be ONE.

PTA,which deliberated aftermath of attack has concrete doubts and clue which needed to give a thought by law enforcing body and solve this issue ASAP to avoid any further attack and misunderstanding between the communities.

There was much hue and cry when Hindu Deities Statues were erected in some of the Hindu Trust Owned School and Colleges. Here in this School, St Theresa statue has been installed and now damaged by some miscreants became a big issue. And some stupid people started blaming RSS, VHP or Ram or Bhim Sena, etc, etc
Let Lord Jesus give them better education or punishment they deserve. Even Jesus himself asked his followers to forgive all. Please do not make much publicity in this issue. Leave it up to His Highness to deal with those culprits

"Well Planned" "Bikes with no number plates" plus this happened just a week before Mr. Advani visits Managlore. Let us see how the police wil proceed with investigation and help our commuinity to stop such acts.

This type of acts must be condemend by our Chief Minister and help us to speed up the follow-up who has a house in the same locality.

While I strongly condemn this cowardly act of any group, i dont want the affected minority communicty to come to conclusions even before a probe has been made. Also if one has to think realistically from a majority point of view, take the city of mangalore for instance. How many places of worship we have for this 2% minitory and the sprawling complexes occupying so much space and then the alleged attempts for conversions etc. and in the name of seculrism, the majority will still have to keep quiet and endure it without initiating any fight. Is this fair and even in educational institutions run by the minority preference for the minority and different sets of rules for majority and the majority still will have to keep quiet. These kind of social injustice cannot go on for ever though I again reteirate voilence is not the answer to remedy the situation

The incident occured is very sad. Sometimes this seems to be a pre-planned by congress. Attacking on institute then immediately holding a press meet seems to be a pre-planned game by congress because a party like congress can do anything for power

"it was a well-planned act of vandalism, as the culprits came in bikes without number plates so as to avoid being identified."
Everyone knows that this act of GOONDAGIRI/DADAGIRI can be done by the one & only Bhajrangdal or RSS.
Strict and immediate action is very difficult for our KAR-NATAKA police, fool of corruption

It is sad to note that morale of some people has become so low that they go to any extent to damage the fabrics of the society without any rhyms and reason. All right thinking people should condemn such acts particularly against any religion. Let us pray and hope the law enforcing authority will take quick action against the culprits and also create fear among such people.

There is no doubt that this is the job of one of the fanatic, radical, anti-social groups who are always after the minority community for no apparent reason. They have carried out many such attacks on christian instituions like schools, churches and orphanages in the recent past. Now it is upto the police dept. to take necessary action so that these things are not repeated. If they too are influenced by politicians, then God only save us!

If this is called as well planned attack then what about the previous attacks hope that is master planned one, all acts of miscreants will come to action being trained, they are just trying to create the problems between the beliefs and faiths, people have to get alert and demand together to ban such outfits around mangalore, department should take a severe action against those criminals who did it before and doing it again and again. This is not acceptable anymore. We the mangalore should be united and fight against such criminal groups which is active to spoil the communal harmony of Mangalore. Jai Namma Kudla.!!
