Mangalore, Nov 4: Thieves broke into a railway quarters in Pandeshwar police station limits here on the night of Friday November 4 and decamped with gold, silver and other valuables.

The theft occured at the quarters of railway assistant signal department technician Pramod Kumar from Bihar, who is away at his native place since October 27.

The stolen property comprises 27 grams of gold including two chains, three rings,  150 grams of silver including anklets, a dvd player and a home theatre system. The thieves also stole Rs 5000 in cash.

The thieves gained entry into the house by breaking the window grills and dislodging them. They also tried to break in through the door.

The theft was discovered when railway union secratary Anand, who stays in the same quarters and who was away at the time, returned and found the cupboard broken open and so also the window. Pramod's belongings were strewn across the house.

He immediately informed Pandeshwar police who rushed to the spot.

A case has been registered by the Pandeshwar police.

Cases of thefts have occured several times in the past at the railway quarters, but despite several complaints, police have failed to catch the culprits, sources said.

This time in Raily quarters and very soon in near by Police quraters!? When police's wifes loose their ornaments in thift they will be activated to chaise the thiefs, untill that thiefs will have the upper hand over our police force.

My advice is to keep hidden camaras in notable areas or keep a transmiter attached cycles, bikes or any thift attracted valueables capable of locating of its position by the radars to catch the culprits easyly.
After all India is well known for IT industry and they can contibute in keeping the nation secure and safe to live.

What is happening in Mangalore we can call it as an age old tradition, not came to light because of lack of media coverage. Now the media is everywhere and even minor things are printed in big headlines on the front page.

I agree with Ismail Perinje. What has happened to our once beautiful sleepy little city now? Increasing incidents of arson, communal violence, murders, accidents, rapes, alcohol drug abuse, apartheid in the name of religion, crumbling infrastructure, and what not!! No reason left to be proud of being a Manglorean!!!!

Again.. I have to repeat as same as in the "accident" post.

Look at the photos. I do not know what the cop is looking for in the jumble of plastic bags ???. He does NOT even have GLOVES on !!

It looks like he is more interested what's inside the plastic bags than finding evidence, fingerprints etc.

As usual, some tale carriers are waiting outside as if they have no other work to be done!!
