Kingfisher Cancels Mangalore - Mumbai Daily Flights from Nov 20

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Nov 13: Kingfisher Airlines flight IT309 from Mangalore to Mumbai and Delhi has been cancelled with effect from November 20.

All flights on this route will stand cancelled till December 15, sources at Kingfisher Airlines in the city told daijiworld.

Kingfisher Airlines operates one flight from Mangalore to Mumbai and Delhi every day, which departs at 2.40 pm.

Sources at the airlines refused to disclose the reason, saying it was 'operational.' Those who have already booked their tickets on these days will get a refund.

Crisis-ridden Kingfisher Airlines has been cancelling flights by the dozens every day across the country. The airlines is reportedly under heavy dues from oil and other companies, and aircraft manufacturers who have lent aircraft to the company have been planning to take them back. Some of the oil companies have even stopped supplying oil to the airlines till dues are paid, which run into hundreds of crores.

Let the market forces decide the destiny of KF. Protectionism has to go. There should be no bail-outs. If it has to go the East-West let it be so. If Mallaya cannot run his airline let him liquidate it. Probably one investor would readily grab it - Rattan Tata. Only Tata's can run a successful airline. High time they got into the airline business after their failed attempt some years back. All the best Tata's we are with you.

Save the sector, not an airline, the entire aviation sector is bleeding. Looking at the grivences of the sector will surely reseruct the airline industry. Unlike telecom, where giant strides have been made today, the aviation industry is lagging far behind, mainly due to the discrimination in not allowing FDI and high taxes and fuel charges. The penetration in the sector is still less than a percent, whereas the customers able to fly is not more than 5 %.

There is no golden egg laying Goose here in Airlines.
All are making loss, including Indigo who are cooking up their accounts to come out with public issue to purchase airplanes.
We already have too many airplanes, but not many people can fly in them.

Most of the countries are having their own National Airline, which is highly subsidised by the governments not only in India.
In India we have too many airlines which the current scenario cannot afford to have.
Before 2003, when the price of Crude oil was Dollars 45, airlines needed 60% passenger load on average to break even. Now the crude oil prices are at Dollars 100-120, which requires a load factor of 90% to break even.
Therefore it is logical, to assume all airlines have to make loss (except if the price of fuel is subsidized), as the load factor of 90% is never reached.
But if the government subsidizes aviation fuel, should the common man bear the cost, who doesn't even fly once in his lifetime.
Let most airlines close down, similar to East West Airlines some years back.
Let people use common man's transport and rich can afford to pay for higher fares, if they want to.

Having so much, why he is asking alms from the government. reason behind this is because, he has given in crores to all the leading political parties in the past during election time. Major share went to Congress. So, he is indirectly asking all of them now to return back to bail out his Kingfisher Airlines. I personally feel, he is not wrong.

When we fly in the U.S., if the
flight is less than four hours, hardly we get anything inside the
the plane, other than some soft drinks-coffee-crakers or peanuts.

If the aviation sector of India is
getting deeper into financial stress, the airlines will be forced to have only one class and
    (economy) no food service. The
Govenment will have to reduce the
    tax structure on the airlines.
    Otherwise the domino effect of
    failed airlines will have severe
    impact on the economy.

If the foreign airlines are being
operated domestically, the government can collect some landing fees, but no other taxes can be collected. Also, the foreign airlines are not going to
hire more people from India, but from anywhere they can get.

It is high time for The Government to reduce the taxes, parking fees etc. Let there be one policy for all. Why low taxes for Air India alone. Why not for others. Are they not Indians. Inspite of the low taxes and high fares by Air India and subsudaries The carrier Air India is under loss. What will be the fate of Private carriers. Today when the government cannot create jobs these airlines have provided thousands of Job oportunities. If the government of India is not in a position to help please open the doors for Foreign Airlines to invest in Indian Aviation in order to bring out of the cash crunched Airlines out from the red.

Normaly the due diligence study done before launching such huge project that too at the time of rising fuel cost has went wrong. Experts do the feasibility study and many times it goes off the track with a very high variance. If the losses predicted and cash flow planned why surprise now? Money is flowing like water in and out of Mr Mallya's empire. I hope he will beat the crisis and make out the losses. I remember his inflight direct address to all the passengers in the small screens on the back of every seat.

Too many carriers all of a sudden, robust Indian economy, and lot of money in the hands of people (not all, though), carried forth like a dream for India. USA economy is down, Europe is in a mess and can not find it's way out, Middle East has collapsed, China and India are enjoying yesterday's success. In India construction is booming, everything appears to be in upswing- this is a false fantasy. India is behind by about a year to USA economy. Things are going to be ugly when the economy takes a dive. Airlines are the first ones to experience. King fisher, Jet airways, Air-India (except Air-India Express)are undergoing pains and suffering of loss of revenue for lack of growth in the economy. These airlines shall adopt Code sharing, Open Skies, and major hubs to organize the flights and revenue generation techniques. Otherwise all these airlines will undergo Chapter 13 conditions and will stop operating. A business is not a business when it does not generate money. One can not operate in loss too long. There is no handout here. Let jet and King fisher merge and strengthen their system. Now it is the survival of the fittest. Our Central government has a lot to do. They can at least promote open skies and consolidation and code sharing. Then may be India can over come the impending economic disaster, unlike the Europe. Another fact- outsourcing from USA to India is going to dry up pretty soon. Watch out!

For the smooth growth of any nation, both communications and
    trasportation are the must.
Based on the red ink data of
the major airlines of India, along
with the blowing wind of recession
and lower economic growth of India,
something scary is forming. Government can't bail out all these
    financially struggling airlines,
but if some drastic actions are
taken to reduce the taxes can give
a breathing option for them survive. If the airlines are
    grounded, more unemployment and
    heavy economic setbacks will be
final outcome, and zero taxes from the airlines.

This he doing not only for his company but also the other pvt airlines. It looks like he is torch bearer and he has support of Jet, Indigo, Spice et al. He has the full right to reconfigure his routes. Don't we do this when we drive our car to avoid traffic and reduce fuel consumption? At least it reached your destination safely. If you are flying kingfisher red they do not offer anything and it is just like any other low cost airline. Have a look at your ticket and see the tax you paid to government 40 times flying and what airline got out of your flying. It is easy to criticise and i must say all private airlines are doing their best for the money they charge. If seats are leather then not many airlines puts head rest cover now a days. ATR 72 or q400 are good aircraft's for small. short destinations and you should expect bit of noise.

    Mr. Fazil,
jet is in loss , they owe around 13,000 crores to banks and financial institutions, Our National Carrier is in an astounding loss of 43,000 crores, while Mallya & Co, owe around 7,500 crores, all airlines but Indigo are making a loss, there is something right with Indigo, which others are'nt looking at, Firstly,
there has has to be a proper price mechanism, good service, promotional schemes, loyalty programmes, corporate tie-ups, comfort and tlast but not the least code-sharing in a tight market, helps reducing losses and congestion. Let the cabinet reintroduce FDI cap in Aviation sector. Try making Mumbai or Delhi a hub in Sout East Asia, which Dubai is today, For your info, Dubai flies 8 flighrs daily on the Dubai-Mumbai sector, and have a maximum market share in the Indian airspace surpassing, AI, Jet or KF or that matter. Opportunites dont knock frequently, rise to the occassion.....make a difference, banks bailing out Mallya is a short term solution, if they do it, look at long term concrete solutions, if we need to be of international standards. Indian airports parking fees are more expensive than JFK or Heathrow.

Kingfisher deserves this. I, being a frequent flier, have flown in this at least forty times in the last five months and have seen the deteriorating service with this particular airliner. The cabin crew is unpleasant to deal with. They don’t even give you a bottle (I guess twenty oz) of water without your requesting for it. They don’t even have the head rest cover which is usually required for sake of hygiene. The seat recline buttons are broken and the aircraft vibrates while in flight. The volume of internal PA announcements is deafening the indicator light beep volume is irritating to the ear and the speaker puts on a heavy annoying foreign access. This is a third-rate airliner.

KF is a listed company on the stock market, so is UB group companies. It is not a family business run by Dr. Vijay mallya so that he can transfer funds at his will.
SEBI and RBI are having a lot of control on these companies, so there is little scope for some one to play the way you mention.
Also by the way other UB grohp companies are on full profit generation spree, infact KF is pulling the group down as the promoter of these companies is the same.

Its a wrong business model of Kingfisher, he probably is running his airline business like the liquor business. We need Indian airlines to survive and compete with the best in the world. To grow an economy we need faster transport mechanisms to transport people, products, raw materials, etc. All the state governments and political parties should come together and understand why we need to help our airline companies. If bailing them out is not an option, other alternatives should be explored. If all airline companies are making loss year after year there is a problem. The problems could be many and a solution should be found at the earliest. The problem could be the varied high sales taxes on aviation turbine fuel in each state, the airport parking fees, and other fees. Lowering these and making them uniform across India to have a level playing field for airlines should be the immediate priority. All political parties should come together and should not play politics. We need our best airlines to survive and succeed. At the end we should see the big picture and help our airlines.

Guys, please do not comment if you do not know the actual facts of Kingfisher losses. It is evident that Kingfisher made money during the hay days and diverted funds to fund the other businesses of UB group. Oil companies, and other Government bodies were not paid their dues on time and fuel was borrowed on credit and a result KF owes millions of dollars to these companies. This is a well planned plot to seek Foreign Direct investment from foreign airlines and fool the general public. Don't worry Mr. Mallya can pay off these dues in one hours time but he would not do it. The reason is simple. I am sure you guys have figured it out by now.

Every airline is in Trouble in India, including the heavily govt funded (tax payers money) Air India. So it is enough evidence that the Tax levied on the Airline industry is very high. Every airline cannot be at a loss year after year. The govt has to look into this and take corective measures before it is too late. Govt has to decide either to sell or shut down Air India, it is un-necessarily draining tax payers money. Also there are too many employees in Air India causing an additional burden.
