Bangalore-Karwar Train to Halt in Kundapur from November 21

Bangalore-Karwar Train to Halt in Kundapur from November 21

Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Nov 18: The popular demand of the local people and a protest organized by them to press their demand for a halt in the local railway station for the recently extended Bangalore-Mangalore train to Karwar, has paid off. The railways, it is learnt, have decided to add the town in the list of stations where this train will stop.

The train has started running to Karwar since November 15. When the dream of the train extension came through, it had brought with it disappointment for the people of the taluk, as they found that the train does not stop here. The people had waved black flags when the train passed through the local railway station on Tuesday, to show their anger.

It is learnt that the department has bowed to the wishes of the people, after considering the justification of their demand. At the same time, it is gathered that the department is considering modification in the time table of the train, as the train reaches Karwar at around midnight as per the present time table. The train moves through Karnataka coast either late night or early morning, which means that the people will not be able to make optimum utilization of this train, and railways may face revenue loss on account of this disadvantage.

Sources said that the department of railways wants to ensure that the train reaches Karwar latest by 10 pm. A decision on this proposal will be made known within a few days, they added.

A release by the town unit of Congress said that union minister, K H Muniyappa, has agreed to halt the train at the local station. President of the unit, Ganesh Sherugar, said that the unit thanks Rajya Sabha member, Oscar Fernandes, former state minister, K Jayaprakash Hegde, and MLC, K Pratapchandra Shetty for their efforts in this direction. Koteshwar Rotary Club and Railway Passengers Welfare Forum too have congratulated everyone who joined their hands in the effort to get the above facility.

If only two minutes of stops are given each at Mulki,Surathkal & Thokur, there will no need to enter M'lore Junction, change engine and reverse all the way to take B'lore route which will take not less than 45 minutes. Secondly majority of commuters stay on the outskirts of the city. Finally, for people of Mangalore City have a night train via Mysore and also the one that was extended to Kannur.

Congratulations guys... this just a beginning!!! Kundapura need stop for Mangalore-Mumbai Express & all other superfast trains which coming from Mumbai. Please re-align stoppage instead of Byndoor it is better to give stop at Kundapura Station. Because Kundapura is geographically center place of taluk with higher number of population/households, city jurisdiction/taluk head quarter, education centers, maximum area coverage would lead to maximum usage of people of taluk and beneficial to railway department as well. KRCL & Social Service Organizations (who done protest at station), Please re-establish all importance to KUNDAPURA !!

It's sad that there is no railway station at Brahmavar. Barkur is not a proper place to board for those who live at uppinakote n Mabukala. But people of Sasthan are blessed bcz Ex MLA Mr. Jayaprakash Hegde has connected Barkur Pandeswar with two concrete bridges through Bennekudru. Koti koto pranam to Mr. Hegde. Hegde always thinks of future and his development works are appreciated people of his constituency.

But election commission cancelled his Brahmavar constituency for the reason best known to them. He put his heart n soul for the betterment of Brahmavar constituency. Roads bridges. I hope he will win next Udupi -Chikamangalore constituency this time n will get a birth in central govt. All other congress ministers from Karnataka are useless except Mr. Muniyappa who is trying his best to bring in new projects into karnataka.

A stop in Mulki would be good for people upto moodbidri, belman, katpadi, kinnigoli, surathkal. It is midway between Mangalore and udupi, and there is considerable traffic in the region. The Mangalore Junction stop is as good in Kerala for the coastal people. A stop in Mulki would really feel like we have one stop for us.
