Mangalore: Collision of Two-wheelers Claims One Life

Mangalore, Dec 12: Malcolm Pinto (49), a resident of N G Road, Attavar here, died in a head-on collision between two scooters opposite Mercara Hill Road near St Agnes College in Bendore in the city. The accident occurred on the night of Saturday December 10.

Ivan Fernandes (49), from Talapady, as well as Joel Pinto (20) from Bajjody here, were injured in the accident.

Ivan was returning after participating in a wedding function at night along with his friend, Malcolm Pinto, who was in the pillion. His scooter, being driven towards Kadri from Bendore Church Hall, hit a scooter driven by Joel Pinto and coming from opposite direction near Mercara Hill Cross. Due to the impact of the collision, Pinto fell to the ground and suffered grave injuries. He was admitted into a private hospital nearby, where he was treated. However, he succumbed to injuries a little while thereafter.

The police said that the accident occurred because of the fact that Ivan was driving his scooter from the wrong direction in the one-way road. A case has been registered in traffic police station east in the city. Investigation is on.
