Bengaluru, Jan 5: An art piece and picture is more effective than a thousand-word write-up as art can depict the lives, culture and traditions of people, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and exhorted art-lovers to support and encourage artists by appreciating their work and buying art work.
He inaugurated the 22nd Chitrasanthe organised by the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat (KCP) at Kumara Krupa in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Siddaramaiah said he was happy at getting the opportunity of inaugurating the Chitrasanthe in Bengaluru and said he was proud that KCP has been organising Chitrasanthe every year regularly and bringing artists from different parts of the State and the country under one roof.
Artists from 22 different States are participating in this year’s Chitrasanthe and exhibiting their work besides interacting with the people, especially art-lovers, which is expected to have nearly 4 lakh visitors this year.
The Chief Minister said that this year’s Chitrasanthe being dedicated to women and focusing on stalwarts such as Mahatma Gandhi, Savithribai Pule, Fatima Shaikh, Kamalabai Chattopadhyaya, Yashodharamm Dasappa, Dattamma and others, who had worked for the emancipation of women.
He took the opportunity to explain that the Congress government’s guarantee programmes like Shakti and Gruhalakshmi were aimed at women’s economic empowerment.
