Beltangady, June 3: In connection with the murder of pick-up vehicle driver Abdul Rehman that took place on the evening of May 27 at Ira Kodi in Kuriyal village, the police brought two prime accused to Beltangady on June 2 evening and conducted spot inquest at four locations.
The police, who have arrested five persons in connection with the case and taken them into custody, have begun conducting spot inspections at various locations the accused had visited.

Deepak (21) of Mundara Kodi in Kuriyal village, Bantwal taluk, and Sumith Acharya (27) of Tenkabellur village in the same taluk were brought under tight police security to four places—Guruvayanakere market area, a mobile shop at Santhekatte in Beltangady, the vicinity of the three-road junction in Beltangady, and Nidigal river near Ujire—for the mahazar (spot inspection), under the supervision of Bantwal DySP Vijay Prasad.
According to sources, after allegedly murdering Abdul Rehman, the two main accused, Deepak and Sumith Acharya, had fled the spot on a bike towards Beltangady. On the way, they are said to have bought new raincoats at a shop in Guruvayanakere, purchased a SIM card at a mobile shop in Santhekatte, and later discarded the SIM into a drain near the three-road junction. Reportedly, they then threw their mobile phones into the Nidigal river in Kalmane village before fleeing towards Chikkamagaluru.
