Bengaluru, Aug 17: The state government’s ‘study abroad’ scheme has received an overwhelming response, with more than 5,000 students registering for the education expo held in the city on Sunday.

The event, organised by the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC), brought together representatives from 60 international universities at Hotel Lalit Ashok in Bengaluru.

Loan support

To assist students financially, several public and private sector banks joined the expo, offering education loans at competitive rates. Karnataka Bank has assured the government of extending the most student-friendly packages, according to a release from the KVTSDC.

Accessible to all

Speaking at the event, Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, minister for medical education, skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood, said the government’s effort was aimed at ensuring equal opportunities.

“Studying abroad is no longer a privilege of the wealthy. With this initiative, even students from economically weaker families can access global education without financial barriers. This is the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country, and we are proud to make international education accessible to all,” he said.

Continued support abroad

The scheme will also provide ongoing assistance to students once they reach their host countries. This includes welfare services, monitoring of academic progress, and legal aid when required.

The expo offers free guidance throughout the process—right from university selection to post-departure support—without agency fees, the release added.

Students interested in the programme can register online at studyabroad.ksdckarnataka.com.

Why they want to study abroad? Many students want to study abroad assuming they get PR/Green card or citizenship. only 10% people get opportunity for same. And even after getting PR, some people end up working in McDonalds or fuel station or supermarket. Someone please tell them, student visa is will not make you eligible for PR, it is just a business in western countries now a days.
