Yes please, allow all the singers to look at the song sheet and sing.

Last time I was really nervouse becoz of the lyrics and I closed my eyes and sang that I may not forget the lyrics on stage while singing that was the reason i closed my eyes and not for any other reason and i lost 1/2 marks marks in semifinal.I am very poor in byheart.

Please this time change your rule and allow them to look at the song and sing.

How we can byheart 5 songs? it is really difficult.

Renny where are you ? comeon this time you have to sing.

Jossie Sirji, whom should the organizers as judge, for a well known and professional singer like Rony D'Cunha. Legendary Mangalorean Konkani singers such as Jerome D'Souza and Wilfy Rebimbus have left to heavenly abode and according to me the remaining one and only is Shri Henry D'Souza (will not be happy either to see Rony as a participant). Similarly,I consider you and Jossie Moras as professional singers and vocal trainers.

All the best to the organizers. you people are doing a fabulous job. Organizing such a big event is not an easy task. There will be some errors and those can be rectified if the present organizers sit together and set them right. Everybody is busy with their own work schedule and taking time out of their busy schedule and organizing such a great event is not a joke. Myself, I am proud to be a winner of GVOM 2008. Even though it was the first event of its kind, it was organized well.

Good luck to all the participants taking part in this show. Compete with a positive attitude.

There are some comments on memorizing part. Singing is not like conducting a memory test. It is better if we memorize the song, but having lyrics on the stand is not bad. At least a singer can be confident and free on stage. There will be critics on everything that we do. No one in this world is perfect. We can learn a lot by competing.

Hats off to the organizers and wish you all the best.

Competition always has to be tough other wise there is no charisma in it. It is better to abide by the rules and regulations set by the Organizers. There shouldn’t be any compromise in it whatever the stages it may be. As per the rules set by the organizers participant has lot of time to memorize the song which they going to present. It is good to sing without lyrics because the presentation of the singer is not disturbed. For a big and prestigious title like Gulf Voice of Mangalore this is the small thing a confidant & deserving singer can give. It is always better to go forward than to look back.

Honorable judges and organizers, Kindly allow the contestants to view the lyrics on the stand (stand should be kept and contestants are allowed to view when they need only, not necessarily for the entire song)..even big professional singers do see the lyrics and if you allow this, wait and see how many talents u get..Im sure double than before.

I support Lorina, Mangalore 100%. The contestants must have the freedom to choose if the lyrics be used or not. If one chooses no lyrics then some nominal marks maybe given as bonus. For many if they are made to render songs by heart then all their concentration will be on recollecting lyrics than interacting with the audience. The lyrics must be kept only on the stand, not in hand. Lyrics or no lyrics it will not affect the singing quality but surely it will give more confidence to singer.

In this context, in the last GVOM after the controversy broke out I did some work and I came to learn that in the Finals using lyrics was ALLOWED. Which was not allowed up to Semis. If so, the public was not aware about this. Therefore there was a nasty but entertaining comment-war in DW.

And to Renny Madam : so what if Ronny D’Cunha participates in the contest? This contest is open to all Mangies and I guess it includes even professionals. It will only improve the quality of the show.

I wish to see Ronny in the contest. I wish everybody good luck.

Dear Organizer of GOVM of all GCC country. My humble request to you, please make transparence in the each and every Judge mark sheet without disclosing the Judge name. Put the marks in the slide display. So participants will not blame for any goal-maal. By this way you can avoid such controversy.

    Steve,

Everyone hopes for the event contraversy free.
One thing we must remeber that, every 'competition or contest' cannot be without contraversy if 'loosers' start blaming judges and organisers! This is out weakness, everytime when we lose, we don't blame us, but blame for judges!

Its not only GVOM, but every contest on this earth is same!

Wish all the best for GVOM-II

I love this event, but I feel it is also fine if the song is sung not from memory. Its a humbel request to allow participants to look at the song sheet and sing because sometimes we have talents but due to lack of time they may not be able to get so much time to byheart the song appreciate if you could kindly consider this point.
