Udupi, Oct 8: The long-pending Santhekatte underpass project, which had remained incomplete for months, has finally resumed after a prolonged halt.
The construction work, which had earlier come to a standstill due to heavy rains, has now restarted following improved weather conditions. After a recent report published by Daijiworld.com highlighting the delay, authorities and contractors have once again begun pushing ahead with the remaining work, including the pending concrete work on the National Highway for vehicles travelling from Kundapur towards Udupi.

Since the commencement of the project, two monsoon seasons have already passed, raising serious concerns among residents about whether the construction will finally be completed before the next monsoon. Locals and commuters have been facing severe difficulties navigating through the area, as temporary routes have turned into pothole-ridden stretches due to rain and heavy traffic.
Public frustration had grown over the delay, with citizens and local leaders repeatedly expressing dissatisfaction with the slow progress. The stalled work had caused significant inconvenience to motorists and daily commuters, forcing them to travel through damaged and uneven temporary routes around the site.
Now that the work has resumed, it is necessary for authorities to ensure that the project is completed at the earliest to provide smooth and safe passage through the Santhekatte underpass.
As this road serves as an important link between Kundapur and Udupi, facilitating heavy vehicle movement and business activities, its timely completion is crucial.
