Shivpuri, Jan 11: Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday announced the launch of two new India Post services — Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 — aimed at ensuring delivery of consignments within 24 and 48 hours respectively. The initiative is being seen as a major step towards the modernisation of the country’s postal services.
The announcement was made during a programme held at Pichhor in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district. Addressing the gathering, Scindia said the newly introduced services would set a new benchmark for punctual, reliable and faster delivery across the country.

“Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48 will redefine India Post’s delivery standards, offering citizens assured timelines and improved service efficiency,” the minister said.
During the visit, Scindia also inaugurated the renovated Pichhor sub-post office, which was upgraded at a cost of Rs2 lakh. In addition, he laid the foundation stone and conducted the ground-breaking ceremony for a new sub-post office building, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs1.11 crore.
Earlier, on December 29, 2025, Scindia had said that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), through the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), rolled out a series of transformative reforms aimed at strengthening indigenous manufacturing and testing capabilities in the communications sector.
The latest initiatives, officials said, reflect the government’s continued focus on upgrading postal and communication infrastructure while improving service delivery for citizens.
