Kundapur, Mar 25: Several people were injured in a serial collision on Tallur Bridge along National Highway 66 between Byndoor and Kundapur on Tuesday evening, after a speeding goods vehicle from Maharashtra crashed into the bridge barricade, triggering a second impact involving a trailing car.

According to reports, the goods vehicle, allegedly travelling at high speed, first rammed into the side barrier of the bridge. A car following behind then ploughed into the vehicle, resulting in a serial crash.

The car driver and passengers, along with the goods vehicle driver, sustained injuries but escaped with their lives.

The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Kundapur for treatment.

The force of the collision left both the car and the goods vehicle badly mangled. The car’s airbags deployed when it collided with the goods vehicle, highlighting the severity of the crash.

Traffic police sub-inspector Anoop Nayak and his team from Kundapur Traffic police station rushed to the spot and carried out initial inspection.

As the accident occurred during peak traffic hours, it triggered a massive traffic jam, with vehicles lined up along the highway for a considerable distance.
