Mangaluru, June 15: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 16-year-old first-year pre-university (PUC) science student allegedly ended her life by hanging inside her residence near the Someshwara Bus Stand on Sunday evening.

The deceased, Samanvi, was a bright student at a local private educational institution and the daughter of Shanthi, a resident of Someshwara.

According to police sources, the tragedy unfolded while Samanvi's mother and elder sister were present in the house."She had gone into the room under the pretext of taking a bath," a source close to the family revealed.

Suspicion arose when she failed to emerge even after a considerable amount of time. Sensing something amiss, the panicked family members broke open the door, only to find her hanging.

Upon receiving information, the Ullal police rushed to the spot, shifted the body for a post-mortem examination, and registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR).

"The exact motive behind the extreme step remains a mystery as no suicide note was recovered from the spot," an investigating officer stated.

Investigators are currently looking into all possible angles, including academic pressure. Samanvi leaves behind her grieving father, mother, and sister.
