Three dead in two separate highway accidents near Kumble & Kasargod

Kasargod, June 23: Three persons were killed in two separate road accidents reported on Monday evening near Shiriya in Kumble and Nayammar Moola on the outskirts of Kasaragod town.

In the first incident, two scooter riders died after their vehicle crashed into a road divider near Shiriya on the National Highway under the limits of Kumble.

The deceased have been identified as Prajeesh (25) and Ameen (25), residents of Uduma Pakkayara. According to reports, the duo was travelling from Mangaluru towards Kasaragod when the scooter reportedly lost control and rammed into a roadside divider in a violent impact.

Both sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru for emergency treatment. However, Prajeesh was declared dead despite medical efforts. Ameen, who was critically injured, succumbed late on Monday night after failing to respond to treatment.

Police sources said the two were close friends.

The Kumble police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.

In a separate incident reported from Nayammar Moola on the outskirts of Kasargod town, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision involving a lorry and a motorcycle on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Rafiq (45) of Alampady. Police said the lorry, which was proceeding towards Cherkala, collided with the motorcycle ridden by Rafiq, resulting in fatal injuries.

The Vidyanagar Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
