Los Angeles, Aug 4: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that work is already underway on Spider-Man 5, following the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Producer Amy Pascal also expressed hope that director Destin Daniel Cretton will return to helm the next instalment in Peter Parker's story.

Speaking to Variety, Feige confirmed that Marvel has long-term plans for the franchise.

"There are always plans," he said, while indicating that lead actor Tom Holland will not immediately begin work on the sequel.

"But right now, he's going to rest after that global tour. He and Zendaya are going to take a good and restful victory lap, which they very much deserve," Feige added.

Meanwhile, Pascal told Deadline that the studio would like Cretton to continue directing the franchise.

"If we have our way, he certainly will be," she said when asked whether the filmmaker would return for the next Spider-Man film.

While no plot details or production timeline have been revealed, the comments confirm that Marvel and its creative team are already looking ahead to Peter Parker's next adventure following Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The latest film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo. New additions to the cast include Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas and Marvin Jones II.

The film was co-written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal.

Released in India on July 30, Spider-Man: Brand New Day received positive reviews, with critics praising its emotional depth, inventive action sequences and renewed focus on Peter Parker's personal journey after years of multiverse-driven storytelling.
