Udupi: Woman Strangled to Death at Kemmannu

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SM)

Udupi, Jun 25: In a case of suspected murder, a woman was found dead at her house in Kemmannu near here on Monday June 25.

The deceased has been identified as Shakuntala (45), wife of Ashok who is staying in Muscat. The couple have two children Akshay (16) and Akshita (12).

The murder was discovered when Akshita came back from school in the afternoon. She called for her mother and on not getting any response, went into her mother's bedroom. To her utter shock, she found her lying on the floor with a shawl tightened around her neck.

A neghbour said that two men who came on a scooter were seen entering the house at around 2 pm. They left the house after a few minutes, it is said, raising no cause for suspicion at the time.

The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. The police have ruled out theft as nothing was missing from the house. It is suspected that some dispute may have led to the murder.

Shakuntala had been staying in Mumbai earlier, and had settled with her children in Kemmanu only two months ago. Her husband Ashok is working in Muscat.

Udupi police have registered a case. Investigations are on.

These days murder has become a way of life. Not a single day passes without us watching a news on the TV about atleast a couple of murders. Murderers go scot free because our judicial system has become so corrupt that only God should take another avataar in this world to punish these corrupt, who are only a burden on mother earth.May God give strength and solace to Shakunthala's husband and children to bear this loss. May the departed soul rest in peace.

Very sad incident. May her soul rest in peace. President of India is pardoning hard core murderer's, rapists and criminals. In such a case, how we can see the reduction in crime rate? Capital punishment should be given to the criminals. They should be killed immediately so that nobody would dare to commit the crime.

It is realy astonishing to hear such crimes happening in tiny village like Kemmannu.Police dept is not serious now a days. All criminal activities are on rise due to the present BJP government which is so irresponsible.Their main attention is for inside tussle only.Common mans life has become miserable.

Shocking incident. Culprits have started taking law in their own hands. They have understood how easy it is to committ a crime and then get away with it. So easy it has become to just enter anybodys house and kill somebody in broad daylight. This has can happen with any innocent person. Dakshina Kannada/Udupi police please get up before the situation here goes completely out of control.

May the soul of Shakuntala rest in eternal peace and give comfort to her husband Ashok, children Akshay and Akshita and the family members and friends. This is a sad incident and whoever did this crime should be severely punished. They should be paraded throughout the city of Udupi with their face blackened with tar and their heads shaved. Only the police can find out the reason for this deadly crime.

Humanity and mercy are evaporating from our civilised lives. Human beings are becoming monsters. No one other than the creator has the right to take any ones life. Off late twin districts have become a den for criminals. Law and order is at its low. Criminals are moving freely. No one is afraid of law enforcing agencies. Corruption and inflation is at its peak. Our state is heading fast towards disaster.

May the departed soul rest in peace. Lets wait and see how efficient our police department.
