Pitbull, SRK to perform at IPL opening ceremony


New Delhi, March 24 (IANS): Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and international rapper Pitbull are all set to give a power packed performance at the Indian Premier League (IPL) opening ceremony April 2 in Kolkata.

Top actress Katrina Kaif will also give a sizzling performance at the ceremony marking the beginning of the sixth season of the IPL series, which opens April 3.

Shah Rukh owns Kolkata Knight Riders in partnership with actress Juhi Chawla. The team won the last edition of the IPL. He is thrilled to perform at the ceremony.

"SRK loves the city of joy and he is already very excited to perform there. Katrina will be performing there for the first time," a source said.

Pitbull, known for hits like "M.I.M.A.I.", "Armando" and "Planet pit", is said to be excited too about performing here.

"When Pitbull was told that he is being invited to perform at the opening ceremony of IPL and SRK would also be performing as well, he agreed to come within minutes," a source said.

The edition will have nine teams fighting for the championship. The teams are Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings X1 Punjab, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
