Kasargod, Apr 30: Kasargod police on Wednesday April 30 seized 50 kg of ganja that was being transported in a car and arrested a person in this regard. The ganja was seized at Kunil at Mogral Puttur.

The arrested person has been identified as Joy Joseph (25), a resident of Idukki. His accomplice Rojas from Kozhikode reportedly managed to escape.

Police also seized Rs 10,000 in cash found in the car.

Acting on prior information, the Kasargod police conducted the operation under the guidance of narcotics cell DySP Suresh Babu.

The Swift car was moving towards Kasargod, when, near Shiriya bridge the highway police signalled it to stop. Joy and Rojas sped away without stopping the car, and police gave them a chase. The Kasargod police were immediately informed.

The accused, on seeing the Kasargod police vehicle, reversed their car and fled, and were again chased by the police. In a bid to get away,  the speeding car went out of control near Kunil and veered off towards the railway track, stopping when it hit against a boulder.

The police rushed to the car and arrested Joy, while Rojas managed to flee.

On inspecting the car, the police found ganja packed in plastic bags. It is said that the ganja was being transported from Idukki to Kasargod.

Kasargod station sub inspector T Uttamdas, Sunil Abraham, K Srijith, K Jyotish, Mahendran and Kamalakshan were part of the operation.

There should be CCTVs and sniff dogs at all the entry points.
Without the local support and the police hand, they cannot do drug dealings so easily in this region.
The drug peddlers should get the maximum punishment because they are destroying the future of our youth.

Marijuana from Idukki district is known as IDUKKI GOLD, which is the best available in India.

Heavy rains of the monsoon, a few friends sitting together talking about old college days, few beers and a few puffs of marijuana....God's best creation!!
The above situation is called heaven on earth.

    Ahmed,
How did you infer from my comment that i promote drugs??!!
I was just explaining the heavenly feeling of smoking grass.
Having a glass of beer sometimes, smoking a cigarette with friends once in a while, smoking weed very occasionally, drinking Bhang milk once a year ... etc are small joys of life, if done responsibly.

I'v started experimenting from school days with beedi, reaching sixties now, perfectly healthy! Be responsible in every thing what you do. Even on commenting in this forum.

Kasargod clan is back in the limelight...must have forgotten about the gold temporarily, now it is Ganja. Government should take very severe action against these culprits who try to destroy the younger generation and are the vermin of the society.

Give such beating to Joy that Rojas will come out of the hiding hole, you coward Rojas. Now put them in a cleaning company and let them start cleaning Mangalore and make it beautiful. Treat them like slaves and give them hard labour of 12 hours a day. Please do this job urgently.

Some agrees and disagrees come out not on reading the subject or comment, but only on the name as to which religion he belongs. These are the fanatics who are to beware of in society.

    Dear Allen,
If he was encountered without a trial, then there would have been hue and cry and the government would have announced a 10 Lacs Compensation to the family. In such an eventuality could we draw parallel to the ANF alleged encounter case.
