Rain suspends play at Hero women's golf

Srinagar, June 24 (IANS): The second round of the ninth leg of the Hero Women's Professional Golf Tour at the Royal Springs Golf Course had to be suspended here on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall.

The first tee off scheduled for 8:30 a.m. had to be repeatedly postponed due to incessant rain which started at 8 a.m. At 2 p.m., the tournament committee finally took a decision that no play was possible and sent the players back.

Weather permitting, the remaining two rounds will be played on Thursday.

Amateur Gurbani Singh fired four-under 68 to grab the opening round lead on Tuesday. She is followed by Panchkula's Amandeep Drall, who carded three-under 69 to steer two shots clear of Delhi's Gauri Monga in third place on 71.
