Udupi: Pedestrian Knocked down by Speeding Lorry at Brahmavar

Udupi, Oct 24: A pedestrian died on the spot after he was knocked down by a lorry near Mahesh Hospital in Brahmavar here on Tuesday October 23.

According to the police the deceased has been identified as Jaya Suvarna (45), a resident of Baikady village.

Police said that the truck driver was trying to overtake another vehicle when the mishap occurred.  Rash and negligent driving was the reason for the accident, added the police.

A case has been registered at Brahmavar police Station.

Student Drowns at Kavady

In a separate incident a student drowned in the rivulet at Kavady village here on Tuesday October 23.

According to the police three students of National College, Barkur had gone for NSS camp at Kavady. When the students had gone near rivulet they slipped into the water. Two students swam back to the bank while the third one drowned.

The deceased has been identified as Jagadish Markala.
