M'lore: Ladies Circle 82 to hold Art Exhibition cum Sale of Paintings

Mangalore, Oct 24: Art exhibition cum sale of paintings “Art for a cause – have a heart for art” will be organized by Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 on the first floor, Empire Mall, at MG Road, here from Friday October 26 to Sunday October 28, informed Philomena Castelino, chairperson of Mangalore Ladies Circle-82 at a press conference here on Wednesday October 24.
 
The exhibition cum sale will be inaugurated by M Maheshwar Rao, deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Dakshina Kannada district and chief guest for the programme, she said.

Dr N Shankar, consultant neurologist and SM Arshad, managing director, Mohtisham Complexes Pvt Ltd will be the guests of honour. Many noted artists like Anil Devadiga, Ganesh Somayaji, Santosh Andrade, Dinesh Holla, D Kandan, Ravi M, S Ramakrishna Taranath, Prashanth, Jayawanth Shettigar, Vasanth Rao, Vishwas, Jeevan Salian and Purushottam Adave will display their paintings, she added.
 
Addressing media persons she explained that the exhibition will display different kinds of paintings of various talented artists from Dakshina Kannada district. Money raised from the sale of paintings will be utilized for encouragement of painters and social welfare activities like charity of the circle, she informed.
 
A workshop for the artists on "The art of framing" and "Genre of Art appeal" by Prabha S Kamath (Final Touch) and William Pais (Orchid Art Gallery) will be organized here on Friday October 26, besides the exhibition, she sated.
 
Art buffs and general public will be the beneficiaries on visiting the event as there would be the display of sculptures and antiques too.
 
Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 is a part of Ladies Circle International. It has been promoting environmental awareness among children through E-CORP programme and involving various projects like better education and health care and hygiene facility to the empowerment of women at large, the chair person detailed.
