Mangalore, Oct 25: Various organizations led Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in association with local leaders staged symbolic hunger strike at the central railway station on Wednesday October 24 morning.

Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, president of KCCI, MLA Yogish Bhat, Baskharchandra Shetty, corporator, Dinesh Hegde Ulepady, advocate, Subbaih Shetty and others staged symbolic hunger strike stating that some of their demands must be fulfilled immediately. 

Mangalore- Bangalore and Janashatabdhi express train services must be resumed immediately, extension of Matsyaganda to Thiruvanatapuram must be withdrawn, Mangalore railway station must be included to South-Western Railway division under Mysore railway division were some of their demands.  They also appealed the government to start new train service between Mumbai and Mangalore via Vasai.

The city and Kankanady railway stations must be renamed as Mangalore central and Mangalore Junction respectively, over bridge must be built at Kankanady-Bajal railway crossing, the city railway station must be renovated and beautified following the centenary celebration, they added.
