Mangalore, Oct 26: Bus service between Kasargod and the city was indefinitely stalled, in protest against the stone pelting of 3 private buses plying on the same route by some miscreants on Wednesday October 24 evening.
Private bus service was disrupted for the second time along the same route, within a week. As a result bus owners' association decided to stop plying of buses opposing the attack on driver and conductor of inter-state private bus, plying between Kasargod and the city at Uppala on Sunday October 21 evening.
The decision to hold strike came after discussions held by the Kasargod DySP, police personnel of Kumbla, with representatives of bus workers and bus owners' unions, on Tuesday October 23 evening.
The office-bearers of unions have urged the police to arrest the miscreants who attacked the bus staff. Moreover the bus owners' union has cautioned of staging taluk-wide protest, if the concerned authorities failed to arrest the alleged miscreants involved in pelting stones at buses.
The bus owners' union alleged that a conspiracy has been hatched to stall the plying of private buses along the route, while the incident of Uppala check-post served as an example, in this regard.
Any solution to the incident needs collective effort of politicians, representatives of all organizations, bus owners and labour unions who should work together with the assistance of police, to resolve the issue, said a local who further said the at the end of the day it is the commuter who is at the receiving end.
