Mangalore: Musical Concert 'Swara-Laya Yatra' from Nov 11

The city Sangeet Bharati Foundation will be conducting a series of five top level concerts " Swara-Laya Yatra", on five consecutive Sundays starting from November 11 to December 16, announced Narendra L Nayak, chairman, expert educational and charitable foundation and vice president of Sangeet Bharati Foundation, Mangalore on Saturday October 27 at the press club here.
 
The series begins with Bhairav (group of morning ragas) – Kalyan (group of evening ragas) Utsav on November 11 and the series would conclude with a mega concert by solo tabla performance by Ustad Zakir Hussain on December 16 accompanied by Ustad Sultan Khan on Sarangi, he informed.
 
The Bhairav-Kalyan Utsav will be followed by a sarod concert by the world renowned artiste Ustad Amjad Ali Khan on November 18. He will be accompanied by Pt Vijay Ghate on tabla. Ismail Khan Langa and party, Jodhpur will present Rajasthani folk singing and dance performances on December 2 and a vocal recital will be presented by Ustad Mashqoor Ali Khan, Kolkatta which has been scheduled on December 9.
 
The first four programmes of Bhairav-Kalyan Utsav, sarod concert, folk singing/dancing and vocal recital will be held at Town-Hall in the city and the final concert, tabla solo will be held at University ground, Hampanakatta at 5.30 pm, he clarified.
 
Entry passes are available at Expert Educational Institutions, Mangalore he added.
 
Radhakrishna Rao, secretary, Venkatesh Baliga, t rustee and Dr Nityananda Shetty, lecturer, Expert PU Science College were present at the press meet.
