Mangalore, Nov 1: Applications for annual Outstanding Structures Awards ‘07, have been invited by Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (ACCE) - Ultra-Tech,  informed Rajendra Kalbavi, chairman, at a press conference here on Thursday November 1.
 
ACCE Ultra-tech has planned to confer awards for the outstanding structures constructed in Udupi and DK districts. ACCE Ultra-tech awards for multi-storied building, ACCE Ultra-Tech awards for outstanding residential villa in DK district and ACCE Ultra-Tech awards for outstanding residential villa in Udupi district will be the awards, he added.
 
The chief objective of conferring the awards will be to encourage engineers and architects from rural areas, so that they can exhibit their talent. Since small buildings remain out of national and international competitions as usually big projects of multi-crores nature are considered for awards. Recognizing and inspiring such projects will be the idea behind conferring the award, he added.
 
Any building constructed after November 2004 will be eligible for the award, provided occupancy certificates from concerned authority are attached. Religious, educational, industrial and infrastructural buildings are excluded from the selection, he said.
 
Applications can be submitted by anyone related to the building. Any information regarding the building such as drawing, design details, photos videos and the like can be given in the form of CDs for further reference, he detailed.
 
All the entries are expected to reach latest by December 3, 2007.  An independent jury will scrutinize the applications and decide winners which will be announced in at a function scheduled to be held in the city during the third week of December 2007.
