Mangalore, Nov 6: “Literacy programme will help everyone to learn more about legal aspects, in every sphere of life. Nobody knows everything and there is much to learn. Thus, such a campaign will help people to get legally educated,” informed district and sessions judge V C Hatti while speaking on the significance of legal literacy programme, at the National Legal Literacy fortnightly campaign held at the police guest house here on Monday November 5.

Another speaker on the occasion SP Satheesh Kumar declared that the said programme is an eye-opener and has made everyone realize that legal awareness is necessary, and there was much to learn (from it).

The resource person of the programme advocate P P Hegde dealt at length about the First Information Report (FIR) which is an important legal document. According to him FIR was the basic foundation of the entire legal structure.

In this context Hegde dealt with the usual mistakes people commit while filing FIRs. He opined that if there was some false statement in the FIR, it could go against the person at the time of hearing of the case. Those are things one needs to know, he advised.
