Udupi, November 29: A one-day Kannada literary convention ‘Sauharda Sahitya Sammelan’ will be held at Ammanni Ramanna Shetty auditorium here on Sunday December 9, said G Rajeshkar, president, welcome committee.

Speaking to reporters he further said that Dr Ramakrihna, senior journalist will preside over the one-day convention. It will be inaugurated at 9.30 am, he added.

Speaking about the convention he said that this is not a competitor for the All-India Kannada Sahitya Convention. The main aim behind organizing this convetion is to understand the real purpose behind the Sahitya Sammelan, he added.

Nearly 100 people are expected to participate in the said sammelan, he informed.

A seminar on the ‘threat posed by communalism’ will also be held under the presidentship of Gopal Shetty. The second seminar will be on ‘Globalization and inequality’ which will be held under the presidentship of G Rajshekar.
 
Later in the evening ‘Sauharda Samskrithika Sanje’ programme will be staged.  Litterateur Sara Aboobhakkar will also take part in the valedictory function.
