Mangalore, Jul 29: Assistant Commssioner of Mangalore sub-division Sameer Shukla has taken over additional charge as the commissioner of Mangalore city corporation. Till now, J R Lobo, deputy director (projects) of Karnataka Urban Development and Coastal Environment Management Project was holding additional charge of this post. Shukla has the distinction of being the first IAS officer to hold this post.
Shukla said his immediate priority would be to address issues like malaria control, road improvement, streamlining water supply and solid waste management.
It may be recalled that P K Subbaiah who came as replacement to Krishnappa Poojary, a KAS officer who retired from the post, was transferred within two months of his reporting. For the present, Sameer Sukla will be holding both the posts.
