Udupi, Jul 29: Ganesh Kumar(40), an employee of Canara Bank Mulki branch near here, lost his life in an accident that occured at Ucchila on natinal highway 17 in the afternoon of Sunday, July 27.

Kumar was moving in his motor bike from Muloor towards Padubidri when an express bus moving towards Udupi hit him at about 3.10 pm. He died on the spot. The Udupi traffic police have confiscated the bus and Kaup circle inspector Vinay Gaonkar said, that the bus was smeared with blood stains.

The public are resentful about the aggressive manner in which the express buses moving between Mangalore and Udupi are driven, their frequent tussles with the staff of other buses and also the hurry with which the buses are moved in order to overtake the buses in front, inspite of numerous pot holes that have rendered driving difficult on this stretch of the road.  The bus was trying to overtake another bus and moving on the wrong side when the accident occured.

Ganesh Kumar, who was transferred to Mulki branch of Canara Bank from Panambur a month back, is survived by wife, working in Mailottu school in Mulki, a son and a daguhter. He was from Sooda and had rented a house in Muloor.
