Mangalore, Jul 29:
A medical practitioner can be successful if he pursues his profession with broad-mindedness and by shunning introvert tendencies, said Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation, here on Sunday, July 27.

Dr Alva was speaking at the golden jubilee celebrations of Dakshina Kannada District Homeopathic Medical Practitioners’ Association which was held at Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, in the city.

Homeopathy has a history dating back centuries. All methods of treatment have their own significance. The medical sphere has been fast changing and medical practitioners will have to focus on building immunity against contagious diseases such as chikungunya, and other mosquito-borne diseases which have become prevalent in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, said Dr Alva.

Fr Muller’s has made significant contributions in providing health care services to chikungunya affected areas while Alvas Education Foundation has distributed free homeopathic medicines to residents of such areas, he added.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations by lighting the lamp. He said that homeopathic treatment has been cost-effective and easy to follow with no side-effects.

Dr S K Tiwari, president, District Homeopathy Medical Practitioners’ Association, welcomed the gathering. Dr Prasanna Kumar, secretary, golden jubilee celebration committee, proposed vote of thanks.
