Udupi: Man Goes Fishing, Drowns in River

Udupi, Jul 30: The body of a person, who had gone fishing in Pangal river, was recovered on Monday on the river bank.

Shekhar Devadiga(40), son of Guruva Devadiga  from Kalya in Uliyargoli village, had gone fishing here on Sunday and is suspected to have slipped into the river and drowned thereafter. The distance between the spot where he ventured into the river for fishing and the place where his body was found, is about 1.5 kms. His body floated in the river till it was deposited adjacent to the bank, afer getting stuck to a boat used to transport sand.

Devadiga was unmarried and was working in a rice mill at Kalya.
