Mangalore, Aug 12: Dakshina Kannada district committee of the BJP organized a protest against the alleged anti-Hindu policies of the Jammu and Kashmir government which reversed its earlier decision to allot land for the benefit of Amarnath pilgrims and also the Union Government which supported this decision. The protest was held in front of the office of the DK district deputy commissioner on Monday August 11.
The protestors, who demanded that the said land be transferred to Amarnath Shrine Board immediately to ensure that the religious sentiments of the majority Hindus are not hurt, announced their total support to the struggle being launched by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, in support of this demand.
BJP district committee president Monappa Bhandary, vice president Nitin Kumar, MLA Yogish Bhat, mayor Ganesh Hosabettu, deputy mayor Shakeela Kava, ex-MLA Jayaram Shetty, Anwar Manippady, Srikar Prabhu, Sathish Prabhu, Franklin Monteiro, ex-zilla panchayat president Sushma Janardan etc. participated in the protest.
