Udupi, Aug 15: The district 'Tulu Koota' conferred the Paniyady award on Tulu novelist Janaki Brahmavar, for her novel 'Rukku', at a function held in Hotel Kediyoor on Friday, August 15.

Her novel focuses on  realities and expresses the emotions of rural women, deriving inspiration from Shivaram Karanth’s Kannada novel 'Marali Mannige’. Muddu Moodubelle, station director, All India Radio, Mangalore, released ‘Rukku’.

Lecturer Dr Niketan delivered the foreword of the novel while Muralidhar Upadhya Hiriadka briefed about  Paniyady’s persona in instituting the award.
