Udupi: Speed Governors Essential for School Buses, says RTO

Udupi, Aug 20: Headmasters, principals and correspondents of schools in Udupi district have been directed to adhere to safety norms in school buses and private vehicles which are used to carry students. The directive was given to them at a meeting organised by the zilla panchayat and departments of Public Instruction and Transport here on Tuesday.

Regional Transport Officer M.P. Onkareshwari said that school buses should be painted in highway yellow colour. The words “School Bus” should be painted in black colour on the four sides of the vehicle and the name of the institution and its telephone number should also be mentioned. School buses should carry students strictly according to their capacity as mentioned in the registration certificates. Students below 12 years are considered half seats and those above 12 years full seats.
