Mangalore, Aug 21: D H Shankaramurthy, vice-president of State Planning Commission assured that a comprehensive plan is being prepared in order to solve the problem of potable water in the state.

'Water from rivers, lakes and borewells would be used to supply as drinking water according to the plan. At present detailed report of every district is being collected', he said.

Speaking to the reporters here on Wednesday August 20, Shankaramurthy said that the government will implement the plan with the financial assistance of the Union government and the World Bank.

In reply to the question regarding employment opportunity in agriculture sector, he said that the government will solve the problems of agriculture sector as its first priority.

"Rs 1000 each has been paid to the bank accounts of 50 lac small farmers in the state according to the proposal made in the current budget".

District president Monappa Bhandary, Nalin Kumar and Chandrahas Ucchil were present on the occasion.
